南方褐鷸鴕（中國大陸作褐幾維，台灣作南方褐鷸鴕）（學名：Apteryx australis）是無翼屬下的其中一種，別名大奇威鳥，棲息在密集的高大的樹木組成的森林中。南方褐鷸鴕體重2320.51克，翼長0.1毫米，嘴峰長126.4毫米，喙寬度4.7毫米，喙厚度5.8毫米，跗蹠長67毫米，尾長0.1毫米。南方褐鷸鴕在其分佈區內為留鳥，其食性為肉食性，主要食物來源是陸生無脊椎動物。[5]分佈於新西蘭南島地區，視覺差，但聽覺良好，嗅覺也極為良好，鼻孔長在鳥喙末端。過去的觀點認為大奇威鳥與分佈於新西蘭北島的北島南方褐鷸鴕是同種，至今仍有部分分類學者持這樣的觀點。
