南方褐鷸鴕

南方褐鷸鴕（學名：Apteryx australis，中國大陸作褐幾維，台灣作南方褐鷸鴕），又名大奇威鳥，是鷸鴕屬下的一種鳥類。[5]這個物種棲息在密集的高大的樹木組成的森林中。褐幾維體重2320.51克，翼長0.1毫米，嘴峰長126.4毫米，喙寬度4.7毫米，喙厚度5.8毫米，跗蹠長67毫米，尾長0.1毫米。褐幾維在其分佈區內為留鳥，其食性為肉食性，主要食物來源是陸生無脊椎動物。[6]分佈於新西蘭南島地區，視覺差，但聽覺良好，嗅覺也極為良好，鼻孔長在鳥喙末端。過去的觀點認為大奇威鳥與分佈於新西蘭北島的北島褐幾維是同種，至今仍有部分分類學者持這樣的觀點。
