麦尔安德
麦尔安德（英语：Mile End），或译咪尾，是英国伦敦东区的一个地区，是塔村区的一个部分。距离查令十字3.6英里（5.8千米）。是伦敦市最早形成的郊区之一，1855年成为伦敦都会区的一个部分。

命名
编辑1288年，麦尔安德以“La Mile ende”为名出现在历史记录中，[1]这个词由中古英语“mile”和“ende”两词构成，意思是“距离小村一英里远”。小村可能指的是伦敦市的阿尔盖特区。[1]大约1691年时，麦尔安德称作“Mile End Old Town”（麦尔安德旧镇），因为当时斯皮塔佛德有一个新地区叫做麦尔安德新镇（Mile End New Town）。[1]
早期
编辑1300年之前此地很少有居民。1381年瓦特·泰勒农民起义爆发，同年6月2日，埃塞克斯叛军约六万人在麦尔安德驻扎，14日理查二世前往此地与叛军商谈和约，然而随后以失败告终。[2]
人民宫
编辑小说家沃尔特·比桑特和慈善家Edmund Hay Currie一起出自计划并建造了人民宫（People's Palace），[3]与之相邻的女王厅（Queen's Hall）在1887年5月14由维多利亚女王主持开幕。这些建筑本是包含游泳池、图书馆、体育场和冬景花园的娱乐设施，1900年代伦敦大学的理学士课程搬到此地。[4]1931年因大火被毁，原建筑捐助者Draper's Company再次将其重建，同时1934年玛丽王后学院也建立于此。[5]新的人民宫在1937年建成。[6]
