瓜达卢长腿兀鹰

瓜达卢长腿兀鹰（学名：Caracara lutosa）是一种已灭绝的猛禽，与卡拉卡拉鹰和凤头卡拉鹰是近亲。它们最初是分类在Polyborus中。

在20世纪初以前，瓜达卢长腿兀鹰栖息在墨西哥的瓜达卢普岛。因为瓜达卢长腿兀鹰以往被认为是卡拉卡拉鹰的亚种，故后者有时会被称为瓜达卢长腿兀鹰。它们于2000年被定为独立的物种。[2]

早期的观察者指瓜达卢长腿兀鹰为“恶魔”。它们因牧羊业的猎杀及毒害而灭绝。1876年时，它们在岛内仍很普遍。[3]但到了1897年时，就只见到一只[4]，但相信仍未消失。于1900年，Rollo Beck捕捉了9只瓜达卢长腿兀鹰作为标本。他可能射杀了岛内最后一只卡拉卡拉鹰。[5]于1903年有多个未确认的报告见到它们，但于1906年就肯定了它们的消失。[6]

瓜达卢长腿兀鹰是其中一种人类刻意灭绝的物种。由于它们有时会猎杀幼羊，牧羊业则要求杀绝它们。[3]它们的栖息地被数以万计的野山羊所破坏，导致了其他物种的灭绝。[7]

已知一种寄生虫Acutifrons caracarensis与瓜达卢长腿兀鹰一同灭绝。[8]

目前共发现了约35个瓜达卢长腿兀鹰的标本。[9]这些标本分别存放在芝加哥、华盛顿及伦敦。
