航天器墓地
航天器墓地（英語：Spacecraft cemetery），更正式的名稱為「南太平洋無人居住區」[1] [2]，它是新西蘭東部的一個南太平洋區域[3]，結束使命和退役的航天器通常受控脫離軌道並墜毀於此。該地區大致以大洋的難抵極為中心，是世界上距離陸地最遠的一片海域，相距周邊的復活節島、皮特凱恩群島和南極洲的陸地都是最遠點，約2,400公里（1,500英里）。選擇此區域墜落退役航天器是因為它地處偏遠且交通量有限，可以避免任何墜落殘骸的碎片危及人類性命。
已退役的和平號空間站[4]和六個禮炮計劃的空間站[1]墜落於此。中國曾發射的天宮一號[5]，天宮二號[6]空間實驗室以及天舟系列貨運飛船[7]等飛行器也均在任務結束後墜毀於此。在該區域例行報廢的其他航天器還有國際太空站各種貨運飛船，包括俄羅斯的進步號太空船[8] 、日本的HTV貨運飛船[9]和歐洲空間局的自動運載飛船(縮寫為:ATV)。[10] [11] [12]從1971年到2016年期間，共有超過263架航天器墜毀於這片海域。[13]

有研究批評這種清理軌道的方法對海洋存在問題且構成了不受控制的污染。[14]
