Telenovela是一種源自拉丁美洲的電視劇，隨後在歐洲、亞洲和其他電視網絡間流行開來。該詞源自西班牙語的「tele」（即「televisión」或者葡語「 televisão」的縮寫，「電視」），以及西班牙語和葡萄牙語[1]的「novela」（「小說」），中文意譯為拉丁美洲電視小說劇[2]。由此衍生出來的電視劇種類，如菲律賓的teleserye、加拿大魁北克省的téléroman和亞洲、阿拉伯世界的drama，與telenovela都有着相同的形式。
