With the buildings of the historic city of Todeo in the background, 597.010 is seen on 5 November 1991. The train having arrived and pulled over to the sidings was 6001, 06:05 Cuenca to Toledo. 60 of these 2-car sets were built in the early 1960s originally to work long distance services. Sets included a buffet bar plus first class seating in one car with 2nd (tourist) class in the other. One notable duty in was the daytime service from Madrid to Lisboa. However they were displaced by locomotive hauled sets and EMUs as more lines began to get electrified. Instead of withdrawal they worked many regional services offering passengers a very good standard of comfort. |
