英国君主的头衔称号
多年以来，每位英国君主的头衔都会有所不同。现任国王查尔斯三世的头衔为:

都铎王朝以前 编辑
英格兰盎格鲁-撒克逊时期的君主，所采用的称号为盎格鲁-撒克逊人之王（英语：King of the Anglo-Saxons）或者英格兰人之王（英语：King of the English）。一些君主则采用了其他更加夸大的变体称号。例如：国王埃德雷德采用了：盎格鲁-撒克逊人、诺森布里亚人、异教徒及不列颠人之王（英语：King of the Anglo-Saxons, Northumbrians, pagans and Britons）有些头衔是伴随着夸大奢侈的称号。例如：国王埃塞尔斯坦采用了：全能上帝右手托举至全不列颠王国王座之英格兰人之王，（英语：King of the English, raised by the right hand of the Almighty to the Throne of the whole Kingdom of Britain）
英格兰诺曼底王朝时期，威廉一世只采用英格兰人之王（英语：King of the English；拉丁语：Rex Anglorum）。次子威廉二世继位后才将蒙上帝恩典加入头衔中。1121年，亨利一世在头衔称号加入了诺曼底公爵的头衔，因为他已经在1106年从兄长罗贝尔二世手上夺取了诺曼底公国。
金雀花王朝时，亨利二世通过与阿基坦的埃莉诺的婚姻取得了更多的法国领土及财产。不久后，他便在自己的头衔中加入了阿基坦公爵（法语：Duc d'Aquitaine）及安茹伯爵（法语：Comte d'Anjou）。1199年，约翰继位，英格兰人之王的头衔被更改为英格兰国王。此外，约翰在即位前已被父王亨利二世册封为爱尔兰领主（英语：Lord of Ireland），因此他便在头衔中加入于此。此时，英格兰国王的头衔变成了：

1204年，英格兰失去了诺曼底及安茹，但以上头衔仍持续用至1259年。1328年，法王夏尔四世驾崩，卡佩王朝正支血统断绝。腓力六世作为卡佩王朝支系继位，造成法国王位继承争议。根据薩利克法，法国王位并不能由女性及其后代继承。1340年，原本接受现实的国王爱德华三世通过其母亲法兰西的伊莎贝拉（夏尔四世之妹）对法兰西王位宣称，并使用法兰西国王的头衔，并放弃阿基坦公爵的头衔。在1360年至1369年之间曾短暂放弃（为了获得更多的法兰西领土），但之后却恢复了对王位的宣称。
1415年，亨利五世入侵法国。虽然他承认了法王夏尔六世的地位，但迫使他签署特魯瓦條約。1420年，夏尔六世承认亨利为法兰西王储及摄政王（英语：the Heir and Regent of France）亨利五世死后，其子亨利六世继承了王太子称号。1422年，夏尔六世驾崩，亨利六世成为正式的法兰西国王。1558年，英格兰正式失去所有法兰西领土，但法兰西国王的头衔仍持续沿用至大不列颠及爱尔兰联合王国成立时。1422年后，君主头衔保持了一整个世纪。
信仰的捍卫者 编辑
这个词最早用于1507年由教皇儒略二世授予苏格兰人之王詹姆斯四世“基督教信仰的保护者和捍卫者”的称号。教皇的使者罗伯特·贝伦登在荷里路德修道院举行盛大仪式。直至1521年，亨利八世抨击马丁·路德因而被教皇良十世封为“信仰的捍卫者”。但后来亨利八世脱离罗马教廷后被教皇剥夺称号，但英国国教会在随后再次授予此称号。后来的历代英国国君都持有这个头衔，直至今日。
苏格兰君主头衔 编辑
在苏格兰，苏格兰君主的称号与英格兰君主称号差不多，是皮克特人之王（英语：King of Picts；低地苏格兰语：Leest o pechtish kings）或苏格兰人之王（英语：King of Scots）。此外，苏格兰君主还有阿尔巴国王（苏格兰国王）（苏格兰盖尔语：righ na h-Alba）的称号。直至玛丽一世（苏格兰盖尔语：Màiri I）及詹姆士六世及一世（英語：James VI and I；苏格兰盖尔语：Seumas VI Stiùbhairt）仍在使用苏格兰人之王及苏格兰国王（女性君主为女王）的头衔。
共主邦联 编辑
1660年，女王伊丽莎白一世驾崩，詹姆士六世及一世继位，成为英格兰、苏格兰、爱尔兰三国的国王，并自称大不列颠国王（法律上仍为英格兰、苏格兰、爱尔兰国王），这种称号被雕刻在银币上。
